I am going to visiting Chicago again this fall and will be staying in the downtown area (600 North State Street). We love to eat Thai, Chinese, Indian, Italian, Hot Beef @ Johnnie's (on the way in or out of town) and Greek. Spicy is good, crowded, not so much.

Here's the catch.....18 month old son will be along so service must be somewhat fast and environment friendly to small ones.

Can you provide recommendations on where to go? I do know we will be hitting Giordano's for stuffed pizza, Johnnie's for Beef and Lao Sze Chuan at some point, unless you have better ideas! Thanks a lot.
Who just eats to live? I live to eat!

That sounds like three good starting choices to me. TAC is a good Thai option for you as it sounds like you're going to have transportation.

    There's a good thread here.

Specifically for Greek, any of the places in Greektown welcome families, specifically, I'd go with Greek Islands for the best combination of ambience, food, and family friendliness.

We also like Spring World in Chinatown with our small child. It's less crowded, the waitresses are very friendly to children, and the food is good. It's at the far end of the Chinatown mall on the end closest to Wentworth. The waitresses make a nice little fuss over my daughter-- the first time she could muster her own order "Chicken Lo Mein, please", they were charmed.

I like the Chinatown mall-- if the kid gets bored, it's very easy to pop outside for a walk and some window shopping. You can pick up some Pocky at Aji Ichiban on the way over there too!
