    I have friends in Racine, WI, who have asked me to find a place we can meet for lunch between their place and mine (Arl Hts). Any suggestions? I don't really even know that area well enough to search for anything other than Gurnee -- and a search for that didn't turn up much that appeared delightful. If there's a place off Milwaukee/21 (so I don't have to pay tolls), that would be even better.

    I'm looking for something tasty but not high end. We're meeting on a Sunday, so a good brunch/lunch would be ideal. I'd even be willing to cross into WI, if it gained me more options.

    Hi,

    In Grayslake on the southwest corner of 120 and 45 is Country Squire housed in a former Sear's family weekend home. I have not yet eaten in the restaurant, though I have been to their banquet facility several times. My youngest sister had her wedding reception there. I will be dining in their restaurant for the first time on Sunday evening.

    On the corner of 137 and 21 in Libertyville the Wildberry restaurant is a good alternative to Walker Brothers (which has a location on 21 in Lincolnshire just south of 22).

    At the corner of 21 and 41 there are a couple real good breakfast spots, The Point, they make great skillets! and Fat Man Inn, a biker bar that actually puts on a great breakfast for $7.00. I lived in Gurnee for a couple years and between the family restaurants at Grand and 21 (In Laws, which has the same management as Fat Man, and Avalon) I'd go with Fat Man any time!

    I bike up to Racine a fair amount, and will often stop at Casa Bonita restaurant in Waukegan. I think that's about the midway point between Arl. Heights and Racine. It's a very solid Mexican place. Although I admit it's usually come after I've biked 50 miles, so I'm pretty sure anything would be delicious at that point!

    If there was a toss up between The Point and The Fat Man for Cynthia's sensibilities, then she may desire The Point. It is clean, Greek-style family breakfast-lunch restaurant patronized often by Carlos of Carlos Restaurant. The Fat Man is ultimately a bar with a heavy, smokey atmosphere, which isn't quite a ladies who lunch spot.
