After about 25 years, my peppermate pepper mill gave out on me. Researching various mills on line I decided I really liked by peppermate best and since this one lasted so long (if the new one lasts this long I'll be 90 when it breaks), I decided to get a new peppermate. On their website they have both a stainless steel and a ceramic grinding mechanism. The price difference isn't great enough to aid the decision. Does anyone know which is better and why.

Generally the ceramic mechanisms are meant to be used with salt, because they don't corrode.

    I'd go with steel.

Thanks Ed. Since I only grind pepper you've saved me $5.

The only other selling point with the ceramic blade that might be attractive for a pepper mill is that the ceramic blade will hold an edge better over time.

I know the thread existed and I have reglanced at it. But can you fault a peppermill that has lasted at least 25 years, is easy to fill, easy to adjust and easy to clean the outside.

All these are the reasons I chose to go with the peppermate again. (Even if it lasts to my 90th birthday. I'll leave it to VI in my will).
