I did a search and couldn't find any likely threads to answer this question -- so here goes.

We have friends from out of town coming to stay with us in two weeks.

    They have a 9-month old.

    We live in Printers' Row.

Anybody have recommendations for good places nearby where a baby wouldn't be a disruption.

My candidates so far: Manny's, and Gioco (early), Chinatown, Maxwell Street market on Sunday morning.

But my friends are from Vancouver -- so I'm a little reluctant to take them to our Chinatown for a treat. As good as it is -- it's no Vancouver.

    Any other ideas?

The South Loop actually has several child friendly places to eat, I'm guessing in no small part because so many of the locals have kids. Gioco is very child friendly during lunch, earlier in the evening and for Sunday brunch. Zapatista doesn't always serve up the best food, but it is also very child friendly for brunch/lunch and dinner. Cafe Bionda is a little further south, but is also very child friendly.

As far as Chinatown is concerned, we've found that both Phoenix House (for Sunday dimsum) and Little Three Happiness are very accomodating of children.

Of course there are also the weekend breakfast standbys: Yolk, Bongo Room, and Orange on Harrison.

    Good Luck

Take 'em to Greektown. It's good, rowdy and there are lots of families with kids.

Try Pilsen. Certainly we have a better Mexican selection than in Vancouver. Plus there are a lot of kids so they're pretty welcome anywhere.

What about Edwardo's? Or maybe Hackney's?
