Ever since the "Come Back Inn" closed in Melrose Park, I've been looking for a good/best dining experience with a fireplace, good food, and the atmosphere to go with it - someplace I can take my wife and some good friends to enjoy the evening. With the cooler evenings approaching, I think we need a 'Fireplace Dining List' in the Chicago area to complement the 'Outdoor/Patio Dining List' we enjoyed recently.

Post #5 - September 18th, 2007, 7:54 amFireside has a wood burning fireplace. Haven't eaten there in quite a while, but I recall the food being fine if one stuck to straight ahead preparations. Chicago style ribs are of the fall off the bone variety, bar is open late and they have a solid bloody mary bar with the Sunday brunch.

Post #7 - September 18th, 2007, 8:11 amCheif O'Neill's has a fireplace in the pub. Food is pretty hit or miss. Nice atmosphere unless they have added a bunch of flat screens since my last visit.

good/best dining experience (Nope) with a fireplace (Yep), good food (Yuk!), and the atmosphere (Very Nice).
You can look up my post on this place - it's among less than a handful of front-runners for "Bster's Worst Dining Experience of 2007".

Post #12 - September 18th, 2007, 9:59 amAn option that is also on the Outdoor/Patio Dining list is Moody's pub. I know some are more reluctant to dine inside at Moody's -- it is really dark in there! -- but I like their burgers.
