What, no mayo or sprouts? Seriously, you could be shot for ordering a sandwich like that in some neighborhoods.

By the way, for all you commenting on Eisenberg Products, let me enlighten you with some facts. The reason you may be seeing the Eisenberg product around at more delis is because it is a superior product. Certainly not less expensive than Viena.... Vienna is much less expensive! I checked out Sandwich Works and shared a corned beef and a pastrami. The size is quite large and the sandwich was delicious. It's right up there with Manny's as far as taste but not price. For all you looking for a "Real" sandwich, give it a try, Sandwich Works at 4718 W. Touhy, Lincolnwood, just east of 94. :D

    Welcome to LTH, flgal!

Do you have occasion to work with Eisenberg products? Are you in some way affiliated with Sandwich Works?

Not this week. There are weeks Eisenberg is more expensive than Vienna and visa vesra. This has been a year of rising foodservice product costs. Vienna beef produces 18 different versions of their corned beef briskets and flats. Kelly Eisenberg produces 15 of their own. Corned beefs are not generic. What are you comparing to what? Briskets? Rounds? Flats? Pickled uncooked brisket? Pickled first cuts? Slicer ready?

I had a corned beef sandwich there a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was adequate, but not good enough or special enough to post about.

I don't want to touch off a nasty tangent (I've already fulfilled my quota for the week on that front), but given that flgal has made two posts, both about Sandwich Works, and since diseappeared except to read my PM asking if she was affiliated with the restaurant without responding, I think it's probably safe to assume she has some sort of interest.

    Hi Dom,
Haven't you learned by now, never assume.... your assumption is incorrect. Pardon me for joining, I had a couple great sandwiches and thought I'd share. I think Sandwich Works has a great sandwich, haven't found too many shoppes with quality. And as far as nasty tangents, sounds like you have too much time on your hands. Have a great day!

Flgal, you wrote two posts in two threads raving about Sandwich Works (perhaps rightfully so!) and disappeared. You displayed knowledge of wholesale meat purchasing. I wrote a very friendly and polite PM to you in addition to my post asking directly if you were affiliated with Sandwich Works in any way. You read it days ago but never responded.

I'm very sorry if I was mistaken, but really, what is any reasonable person supposed to conclude?

They use Kelly Eisenberg corned beef. They use D'Amato's bread for their imaginatively named subs such as the "fuggedaboutit!" (Italian sub) or the "Howz a Bout a Meatball." Bonus, each sandwich "always comes with a Pickle." No choice of old or new, though.

the Sandwich Shop is kosher and I believe they get their cold cuts from Romanian Kosher Sausage
