Colorado Springs???

Going to Colorado Springs next month and looking for any recommendations anybody might have. Last year we got stuck at the unholy trinity of Outback, Buffalo Wild Wings and Montana Teds.

I'm not really familiar with the area, but we'll be staying at the Embassy Suites on Commerce if that helps any. More importantly, nothing terribly fancy. First, I'm strictly a meat and potato man. Second, we're on business and thus funds have to be reasonable. We'll probably get away with one decent (not great) steak place. I'd also like to find a decent Mongolian Stir Fry type place. Also open to great sandwich, pizza (yea, lots of hope there) or BBQ places.

We will have a car and GPS so we shouldn't be too tied to the area we'll be in. Looking forward to any suggestions.

Well, judging by the lack of response, I guess I didn't miss anything when I was there last year.

It's been far too long since I lived in Colorado Springs to provide any dinner recommendations. However, I do know that Zugspitze on Maizeland Road is still around, and it had BY FAR the best deli sandwiches in the city. Definitely worth a look...

after living in denver for about two years i've been to colorado springs two times. i have heard not a quip about any worthy dining there. i'm sure theres something but doesnt seem like a foodie epicenter!

if all else fails you could try texas roadhouse-a chain steak house w a texas roadhouse peanut on the floor theme. at least they have local beers. a step up barely(maybe?) from an outback!

the broadmoor (you have to say it w your nose in the air) is a well known resort w 8 or so dining options. most are pricey but it seems there is an english pub brought over from england w a ragtime pianist! sounds like an interesting night. its called the golden bee.

in manitou springs there is a place called the craftwood inn-looks real fancy!

good luck and i'd be interested in hearing of any finds! its too bad that there isnt too much information because it is a beautiful area if you get out of the sprawl and into the foothills. take a drive through the garden of the gods its free!

Thanks much. The place we are going to is in the foothills, and it truly is a beautiful area. And at least it looks like a few decent places. They might be over our price point, but glad to see them available.

Well we tried to go here but it appears this gone. Unless we had the wrong address it is now Mexican meat market. We did end up across the street at Steaksmith, which wasn't too bad. The service was very slow for lunch, but it was a nice enough place. Unfortunately the burgers, while good quality, were overcooked. They would have been great if cooked properly.

Other than that, we didn't get to try any of the other places on the list. We just got too busy to venture too far from the hotel.
