Far East and Pekin House used to have (maybe still do) the same owners. When I lived in Lincoln Park, Far East was my go to place for Chinese/American carryout and delivery, although they had a large eat in dining room and a bar. They had the same great egg rolls as Pekin House. Several years ago (I'm thinking at least 15) they had a fire that destroyed the original building and shut them down for a couple of years. When they finally reopened, they reconcepted into a more fast food/carry out arrangement and the food took a severe downhill turn. I haven't been back since three or four tries after the re-opening.

I always order the BBQ Pork. My associate likes the chicken friend rice and lo mein. And thank you!

I graduated from ISU and moved to Diversey & Pine Grove. At least once a week I stopped at Far East for carry out. Does this bring back good memories, but since it's been (ahem) some years since I lived there, I'll have to pass on a review of the food.

Also frequented YakZie's when I lived there, and was sorry to see it go recently.

However, I do make a point to go back to the neighborhood for La Creperie. I don't care, I just like the crepes, and since they're hard to find, it's definitely worth it for me. And that restaurant holds memories, as well. My friend from college got engaged there. My sister and I sat next to Tim Kazurinsky when he was obviously on a first date (the tables are very close together). Ahh, good times, good times.

I live extremely close to Far East. I actually gave it a few tries and found everything relatively marginal. I am very picky about Asian food, particulary Chinese. Kind of comes with the territory because my husband grew up in Asia, and I've had some of the best Asian food cooked by him, while traveling within Asia, and at some of the Great Neighborhood Restaurants and other specific restaurants already discussed on this board.
