Well, Since germuska is 2-for-2 on the happy hours, I guess it's time for someone else to step to the plate and take a swing.

(Past events have met at Rock Bottom Brewery and Brasserie Jo).

    So, I propose:

Clark Street Ale House and their terrific beer list and often under-used backyard.

    When: Tuesday, 9/18, 5:30pm
    Where: 742 N. Clark St

    Best,
    Michael

Sounds great. We can follow up with dinner at Mr. G's Dawg & Burger... (or is that one Mr. J's?)

Well... I'm sure there are other options to consider...

Did somebody say "terrific beer list?" :D

I ought to be able to make this. It's certainly not far from my office.

Nine out of ten dental patients recommend beer. Glad you can come.

actually, there also was a gathering at The Tasting Room, on july 9th. there were only 4 of us there, but i feel confident i speak for us all in saying we enjoyed each other's company and had a lively (foodcentric) conversation. we shared a cheese platter, a charcuterie platter, and had several glasses each of half priced wine (the lure on mondays). the food was delicious, but the price seems to get a little steeper with each visit. justjoan

    Sorry. It escaped my memory.

It looks like it's going to be a pretty nice day. I'm going to try and arrive at CSAH a little early and find space on the back patio.

For those of you on the list that I haven't met (Bill, I think you're the only one) I am wearing a green short sleeved button-down shirt and I wear glasses.

My wife Cookie, nee Petit Pois, has agreed to join us as well.

    Best,
    Michael

It was an outstanding evening. 20+people I think, great beers and other drinks, good conversation and afterwards many of us went to Coal Fire Pizza for a spectactular meal. It doesn't get much better than what we experienced tonight. Thank you, Michael - for pulling it all together. I'll post some photos tomorrow.

Here are some photos I snapped last night. Thnking once again about the headcount, I think it was more like 15 than 20. Enjoy!

I tasted three different beers, each very different and each enjoyable.

    Allagash White
If you're familiar with Blue Moon you'll have an idea of what this tastes like, only it's much better. I found it lite, dry and crisp to taste.

    Image

Three Floyds Fantabulous X Anniversary Ale
This was a rich, fruity beer - excellent tasting.

Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter [not photographed]
I drank the porter before thinking about getting a photo. I like stouts and porters and this offering was rich with a roasted malt and chocolaty taste.

Coalfire - Anchovy and Sausage Pie
This was probably the favorite pie of the evening. The photo doesn't do the pie justice, however.

What a great event! I can't believe I've worked in River North for 8 years and have never been to the Clark St. Ale House before.

Coal Fire afterwards was quite an inspired second act! As noted, it was cool to be in a big group so as to try more varieties of pizza. Me, I love that char, although I know it's not for everyone.

Looking forward to the next edition. (JimTheBeerGuy and I were kicking around a visit to the Edgewater Lounge sometime soon...)

I can't believe I missed this, I just haven't read this event topic in awhile.

I darn near stopped in there that day too.

But I second the Edgewater Lounge for the next one, I've been wanting to get back there for awhile.
