Vital Information and I would like to put together a group for dinner at Gloria's Cafe (Colombian/chicken in Logan Square) this Saturday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. Gloria's has recently been rehabbed into a cute-looking sit-down space and in the window is a big banner reading BYOB. Probably need to limit the group to 12; it's a small space that could be easily overwhelmed. Please respond to this thread if interested.

Wish I could make it, but I have a different food event that night to attend.

Just a suggestion, though, to possibly let them know in advance that you're coming. It's a wonderful place, but in my experience, service can be a little spotty. I think they'd do a better job for you if prepared for a large party.

For what it's worth, I recommend the whole tilapia. I know tilapia tends to be the pariah of the sea for some folks on this list. But Gloria's does a great job, and unlike the rotisserie chicken (which, by necessity, may turn on the spindle too long before serving), the tilapia is cooked to order. (This reminds me I need to make it back to Gloria's soon!)

Could you report back whether they're still carrying baked goods from Bleeding Heart? I always looked lovingly at the items in the case, but also found the semi-pricey, often vegan baked goods to be sort of incongruous with the sensibility of the restaurant . . . like most customers would come in for *either* the Columbian chicken *or* a coffee and lemon tart, but not both. Just wondering if they've been successful marrying the two.

    Hi,

This will be my first weekend off the treadmill. I would like to do something fun and relaxing. I'm in (unless I discover I promised to be somewhere and forgot).

    Regards,
    Cathy2

I wanted to see what the response would be. I am out of town on Sept. 29th, otherwise would be happy to attend - the day before, the day after, the following week. If you change the date, I'll be there.

The 29th is the date VI and I had discussed, but I don't see why it couldn't change to accommodate schedules. Also, the point above about making sure they can handle a large group is well taken; it is a tiny space and even 10 or 12 would be a handful for them if they aren't ready, so I plan to contact them once we've nailed down a date, time and party size.

Just a bump to see if there are any more interested, so we can give Gloria a final count. Please let us know by tomorrow night if you want to come.

Obviously, there is room for more. But let me know by this afternoon, so I can call and alert Gloria's if need be.
