The MKE Journal/Sentinel explores whether Milwaukee has its own pizza style :http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=670826

I look forward to the comments of the board's prominent Milwaukee ex-pats on this subject.

As a kid, the very first pizza I ever tasted was in Milwaukee. On the southwest corner of 76th and Capitol, there was a restaurant with an animated neon sign (IIRC, an Italian fellow with a pushcart). Their pizza was thin and crisp, the sauce not at all sweet, and was topped with whole milk mozzarella that was nearly as chewy as meat.
I haven't eaten pizza in Milwaukee in quite a few years but, if the article is any indication, it would be worth a trip to sample a few of those lovely pies.
