As the editorial pages of WSJ spiral into some Murdochian inferno that predates the sale of DJ to the Rupert somehow (I dare not say more, as politics are verboten here) and stands in stark contrast to the news they are reporting, the critics and commentators, the lifestyle pages if you will forgive that not entirely flattering descriptor, march on strongly

At some point every serious critic must submit him/herself to an assessment of criticism. Am I being fair? Am I being appropriate? Are standards relative or absolute? This comes up, sometimes obliquely, here pretty regularly. Every poster is, after all, a critic. And each of us applies our own, different standards. I think some of us are more relativistic in our standards, depending perhaps on type of place, price point, type of food, comfort or friendliness or any number of other factors - you pick your favorites.

So it was with enjoyment that I read a little piece on this - Confessions of a Community Theater Critic. Sure, it has nothing to do with food, but it really does have everything to do with criticizing food, posting on Bob and Ethel's Family Taco Stand versus Charlie Trotter's. Plus it is nicely written and passably amusing. So I figured I would share.

    Enjoy.
