WHAT: SAVEUR magazine and The Chopping Block are celebrating America’s best food destination with a walk-around, hands-on tasting event. The pages of SAVEUR’s special October issue celebrating Chicago as “America’s new culinary star” will be brought to life, from haute cuisine to scrumptious street food and everything in between.

    WHEN: Wednesday October 10th
    6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

    WHERE: The Chopping Block
    Merchandise Mart Plaza
    Suite 107
    Chicago

WHY: For the first time in its 13-year history, SAVEUR, a leading national culinary travel magazine, is devoting an entire issue from cover-to-cover to a single city. Come taste why. Meet SAVEUR editors and the talented cooks featured in the issue, including some of the city’s celebrity chefs, talented home cooks, deep dish pizza makers, Polish butchers, and more. Sip Napa Valley’s St. Supery Vineyards and hand-crafted beer by Chicago’s own Goose Island Beer Company. Taste mouthwatering recipes featured in the issue and dishes prepared by some of the city’s best restaurants and chefs. Learn the secrets of Chicago’s best cooks while watching cooking demonstrations led by chefs and SAVEUR editors.

HOW: $60 tickets can be purchased at www.thechoppingblock.com or by calling 312-644-6360
A portion of ticket sales will be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.

    Bump.
I can't attend, but would love to read about it here. I think Burt is going to be there with his pan pizza.
Man : I can't understand how a poet like you can eat that stuff.
    T. S. Eliot: Ah, but you're not a poet.

Really? I'll have to put that night on my calendar to not go to Burts.

Hi- a friend of mine was supposed to go but she cancelled. I have a spare ticket. If anyone is interested, email me directly and we can figure out the logistics. This should be a great event! Thanks.

As reported in the Tribune today, Ferran Adria has dubbed Chicago "the center of gastronomy."* So it's official; this city rules. :)

Correct. Burt, Sharon, and I will all be there. There has been a sign in the window informing people that the store will be closed on Wednesday the 10th.

    Hi,

I wish I could attend, but I have a pressing meeting to attend. I hope you report back on the experience.

    Regards,
