My family unit and I had a very nice experience here yesterday. We were desiring ice cream after a soccer game (thanks to the decidedly not-October-ish weather) and initially were disappointed to see that they closed at 5 (this was just a few minutes after). As we were walking back to our car, the owner came out and asked if we'd be interested in getting something to go, even though they were just starting to clean up. She invited us in and it is a wonderful old building. The son and I had ice cream (cookie dough and raspberry) and the spouse had a hot fudge sundae. All were excellent. Beyond that, the owner was so friendly.

While we didn't get any candy, they have an extensive selection which looked great. Tuscola is about 20 minutes south of Champaign, right on I-57, and there is a Tanger outlet mall there (in case you need to justify the road trip).

Flesor's is terrific and I've had the candy and it's quite good, especially the peppermint patties. I much preferred the candy to the ice cream, which I thought was under-flavored.

The malted milkshakes are to die for. You can even get your own mix of soda drinks. Their Reubens are very good as well. It must be what it was like to eat at a diner in the 50's. 'Cept for the final bill, of course.

I was a bit surprised to see Flesor's Candy Kitchen already well covered here. I'll simply add a few pictures of this fine old store (from August 2010). We visited in the morning when all I wanted was coffee and water. Maybe I'll get back someday to sample what they're known for.
