We are going to apple picking next weekend and would like to find a Foley Applesauce Maker. I see them on ebay but does anyone know a store that sells them? I heard about Foley, but can recommend a different applesauce maker?

    Thanks!
We have the very best Embassy stuff.

If you put food mill in a product search, it shows several local chain stores have one, some of them Foley, some not. IMHO It's a pretty cumbersome tool to store if it's not going to be a multi-tasker.

I made applesauce myself this weekend with about 1/2 peck without a mill pretty easily: Peel apples with peeler, skipping the indentations on the stem and blossom end (Sparky likes to help with this, it's a pretty kid-friendly job.) Cut 4 sides off apple so the remaining square contains the core and stem. Slice apples thickly. (talked myself out of the equally cumbersome apple peeler/slicer by using this method) Put in pot with sugar to taste, water to cover the bottom about 1/4 inch, and season with 1/4 tsp allspice, a bay leaf and 1/2 tsp lavendar and a shot of lemon juice. Cook until the juices thicken and the apples fall apart.
