Hello, I am looking to take my wife out to a restaurant similar to Green Zebra or Lula that will have eclectic american cuisine that uses locally grown organic produce in a creative and delicious way. Do you have any suggestions??

Also, if you have any suggestions of another restaurant that is somewhat vegetarian friendly and interesting, please let me know.

    Thanks in advance.. :!:

If you're looking for a Vegetarian (Vegan) restaurant, I had a good experience at Karyn's Cooked. My husband's been there a bunch of times (without me) and loves it. I'm not really a vegan-kinda gal, but everything we had was great and our waitress (Karyn's daughter?) gave us give advice on what to order. It's fairly casual, but definitely eclectic.

I also second Vie, if you can make it out to Western Springs. (It's a few blocks from the Metra stop.) Vie is definitely more of a "special occasion" type of restaurant, but they're friendly enough to make you feel comfortable. They have several vegetarian options on their menu. I've been there a few times and have never been disappointed.

I would also recommend Vie. I believe you summed up what they are doing very nicely:

    How about Erwin?

    2925 N Halsted St
    Chicago, IL 60657

I have not been in about a year, but I did enjoy the freshness and seasonal produce. Good wine selection too!

Thanks for all your help! We are headed to Vie. We went last year to North Pond and enjoyed it very much. Thought we'd try something new and that restaurant is near our home. We've heard good things about it too.
