After long being referred to simply as "culinary chat sites" in many an article in the press, LTH Forum has finally come out of the closet and has had an articlewritten about it/us in today's Sun Times. Reporter Dave Hokestra did an interview with several of the moderators and wrote a very nice piece about the goings on at LTH and even mentioned the GNR Awards. The article was accompanied by a picture of a few of the moderators at Ramova Grill.

Thanks for the pointer. This is a real nice article (made possible, of course, by a great "culinary chat site").

Truly awesome, and the article has me craving shrimp toast and head-on salt and pepper shrimp. (and thanks for the heads-up, steve!)

You guys all look great in the photo, as well! Congratulations!

Funny. I did feel like I was channeling Verbal Kint when the shot was taken.

I think Dave Hoeckstra did a fine job of corralling our wide-ranging comments into a narrative.

I'll go behind the bulletproof glass with Gary and the rest any day. Mack treats me like a war buddy after our formal introduction last month (and ironically, my very first post, on the very subject of bulletproof glass, turned into a forum tagline). In Chicago, it's a medium of exchange, not a barrier.

I just noticed a link on the Sun-Times home page for "LTH Favorites" --
    http://jump.suntimes.com/list.cfm?tag=LTH

Is this a new thing they are doing, with the restaurants updated over time? Or is it simply a follow-up to the article?

    Hi,

I don't know, but it seems all those restaurants are GNRs. I will guestimate they are a representative sample geographically, ethnically as well as price scale. Seems like a fun list, especially to someone who is just being introduced to the treasure trove of information here.

    Regards,

It's a cool link, and it's nice to see LTH Forum get credit directly for coming up with the list for a change, but they are not all GNR winners, not that there's anything wrong with that.

    They're all GNRs. I don't see one that isn't.

I guess you're right. I had forgotten that Birreria Reyes de Ocotlan and Cemitas Puebla were GNRs.

When I walked into Coal Fire last night, the waiter, who remembered me from our recent group visit (were we that rowdy?), showed me the article. He and Jay, the co-owner, seemed very pleased with the recognition LTH is receiving in the media.
