    Hey guys!

Do you know if any of the Chinatown marts sell black sesame paste and black sesame seeds? I'm trying to make black sesame ice cream with these ingredients. I've seen black sesame seeds sold at Mitsuwa and the other smaller Jap market in Arlington Heights, but due to my lack-of-car status, driving all the way to Mitsuwa is impossible.

    Thanks!

Not that this is helpful to someone sans car, but I've seen black sesame at Marketplace on Oakton, which would indicate that it's probably pretty easy to find at an ethnic grocer.

why not take the EL to Oak Park and pick them up at Penzeys?

I've seen black sesame at Richwell on Canal and at a few of the other stores in Chinatown, so to answer your question...yes, you can find 'em in Chinatown.

Indian grocers, specifically Patel Brothers, may also be worth checking out if you're looking to buy in bulk.

I remember seeing black sesame paste in a grocery in Chinatown, but it may not be what you're looking for since it has several other ingredients mixed in.

I don't know where you live, but Dirk's Fish market on Clybourn sells these as well.
