Just a quick question- does anyone know of any non chain restaurant in the Chicago area (when I say non chain they could be a local, non corporately owned chain if that makes sense) that makes a strong effort to provide nutritional information (calories, fat content, sodium, etc.)?
is making all his reservations under the name Steve Plotnicki from now on.

I don't know if Taco Fresco is "corporately owned", but they're a local chain, and they do give nutrition info. Their menus prominently offer ways to "make it healthy" and I've seen nutrition info in the restaurants. It's been a long time--maybe a brochure? Anyway, it's on their website, http://www.tacofresco.com. Hope this helps.

I thought Taco Fresco was owned by Burger King?

But to answer the OP's question, no, I do not know of any independent restaurant that makes an effort to provide nutrition info. And I guess I'm thinking, why would they want to? It seems like it would be such a difficult task to achieve, and one that the restaurant would not want to take on in addition to all of the obstacles a normal restaurant faces daily, not to mention that it would open themselves to liability.

Off the top of my head, two that come to mind are lunch places in the Loop: Spa Cafe and Roti Mediterranean.
