I think this sounds like a great idea! My mom always used to host one of these for the neighborhood and it was great getting all kinds of different cookies. I would like to attend.

I will be making White Chocolate Coconut Walnut cookies, which I made last week and were the best things I've ever made. Not to toot my own horn or anything.

I also might make Shortbread with Chocolate Chips, but that depends on whether I can find my beloved Guittard's chips. Does anyone have a lead on them?

I have sometimes seen them at both Jewel and Trader Joe's. They are, of course, always available through the King Arthur Baker's catalogue.

I think I may have seen them at Cost Plus World Market - might want to call first though.

I regularly buy Guittard at Dominick's (it's one of the few reasons I ever go there). I haven't seen them anywhere else in a long time.

Edit (in case anyone ever searches or stumbles upon this): Dominick's seems to no longer be carrying Guittard. I've found them at Strack & Van Til recently.

I used to be able to buy them at the Jewel on Howard, but they no longer seem to carry them. I did find some at the Jewel on Sheridan and...Bryn Mawr-ish? but the last time I was there they had just one kind. Which Dominick's do you go to?

Edgewater (Broadway), Uptown (Foster & Sheridan), and W. Lincoln Park (Clybourn). Earlier this week I saw butterscotch and green mint chips at Lincoln Park--I don't think these flavors are usually there.

Question: if it's not too full already, would non-LTHers be welcome? I have a couple of cookie-baking friends who would love to join in, but I wasn't sure of the etiquette.

    Hi,
I'd love to attend if you don't have too many people already. I will either make Chunkies (a chocolate cookie stuffed with pecans, chocolate chips and raisins, and coated in ganache) or...well, I'll probably make these if that sounds okay. Thanks for organizing!

Right now I'm planning on making Spritz, but I'm trying to obtain a cookie press. (I just ordered it.) I can also borrow one from my mom, but getting that thing out of her hot little hands during holiday season could be a problem, haha. Anyway, put me down for that.
