    Hi All,

I am scheduling this a couple of weeks away, so as to spread out the GNR dinners. I chose a Sunday because it fits best with my schedule, but I am open to change. I am thinking about an early evening meal like maybe around 5:30 pm. Again, I am open to suggestions. Let me know if you would like to attend, so in case there is interest, I can give them fair warning.

    Dave

PS: It is a bye week for the Bears, so no conflict there.

Ooooooh goody! Count my buddy Joe and I in. There's always room for Tampiquena!

And we'll bring the margartita mixings too!

    I'm 100% in for 2 people.

I didn't read this carefully the first time I read the post -- first thing I checked was the Bears' schedule. Anyway, I'm definitely in! Thanks.

I'm in! I went last night for the first time and was floored by how good the place is. And while that mostly about the terrific food, it's also about the warm and caring ownership.

Wow. I didn't expect such a big response, so quickly. Before our group gets too big, I need to check again with the restaurant to make sure they can handle such a large group on that particular day. Unfortunately, I just discovered they are closed today (duh. I forgot), so I will call them when they open tommorow.

If, after checking, you find you can accommodate one more, I'd very much like to be added to the list. Just let me know. Thanks.

Anyway, if you have any cancellations or have room for 2 more, Justin and I would love to come. We've been meaning to try SdM and this would give us the perfect excuse...plus it's the only GNR dinner we can make.

OK, I just checked with Carlos. He said he can handle a big crowd as long as we give him advance notice of the total number. So, we have room for some more diners. The only concern is that if we get a huge number of people signing up, we may want to go with a family style meal, so as not to overburden the staff (if that's OK with everybody). I will call him back next week, once we have an idea of how many people are interested, and make the arrangements. He seemed very excited about the prospect of having a bunch of LTHers descend on his place. I told him to expect us at about 5:30 pm, on Nov 4. I am getting kind of excited about this myself.

OK, so far we have the following people signed up. I originally told Carlos around 20 people, so this list is perfect, but I am sure we have room for a few more, if anybody else is interested (plus there are bound to be the inevitable cancellations). I will call Carlos on Monday and let him know.

I will call Carlos to make definitive arrangements tommorow, when they open. I will also ask him whether we should order off the menu or just place ourselves in his capable hands. With the size of our group, it may be better to do the latter. If we go that way, I will post the details here. Either way, I am sure it will be a wonderful meal.

If there are any additions or deletions from the following list of attendees, please make them today, so I can give Carlos an accurate count.

:( Unfortunately Justin and I are going to have to bow out of this one. Eventually we'll make it to SdM, but it won't be on Nov. 4. Cheers and have fun.

    Hi all,

I spoke to Carlos today, and he wants to put together a special dinner for us. Some of the dishes he suggested sound fantastic. He asked for some input on the menu choices, so I said I will call him back tommorrow with some ideas. If anybody has any suggestions or preferences, please post them. I told him we are not picky eaters and trust him to do something special, but he really wanted some guidance. I did ask for the lamb in mole negro. He also suggested chicken in a creamy Chipotle sauce which sounds good. When I get the final details, I will post them here. I am sure this will be a memorable meal.

    Dave,

Ask him if he could serve chiles en nogada. This is a seasonal dish, which he had on the menu last year. Carlos did a respectable version of this autumn classic (actually, it's served as part of Mexican Independence Day celebrations, but usually is around during all of pomegranate season).

    Mole'.

...The amarillo and/or the guava-based one Carlos alluded-to in the past. For that matter, any mole'(s) he can conjure up.

And perhaps, some dish with that ostrich?
