I'm looking for restaurant suggestions for a couple coming from the North Shore and a couple from Westmont. One obvious choice is the big city since the burbs feed the metropolis, but the running suggestion is Oak Park/River Forest. The suggestions on the Forum seem to be Le Coq and La Piazza there. Not interested in Mexican. Any other suggestions? Other burbs that seem fairly equidistant can be suggested also.

When offered up La Piazza, why go anywhere else? It's truly a gem of this area...

I heartily recommend it and wish I was going.

Do a search for Jimmy's Place in Forest Park. I've never been, but it gets decent props here for "red sauce" Italian.

I've had some good things at the Francesca's in Forest Park. haven't been in a few years. is it even still there?

Thanks for the advice. Francesca's is the decision.

I should come clean and admit that while I've been a reader of this forum for months, I'm a newbie and I registered for this advice because I didn't know this part of Chicagoland. I don't know that I'm ready for the full-on plunge of bringing along a digital camera--and my phone doesn't take pictures--but I will make a report of my impressions.
    Have another. It's 9:30, for God's sake. ~Roger Sterling
