Brickyard Mall

I have to be out that way this weekend.I am looking for inexpensive recs.Not been out there in a while and not set on any particular cuisine.Thanks in advance.

The indoor mall has been torn down and rebuilt as an open air facility. I don't think that there is anything "chow-worthy" on the premises. It is a homogenized piece of property with Starbuck's and McDonald's as the food anchors.

You are only a short distance from Harlem Avenue and all that it has to offer---Taco Burrito King, Riviera Foods, Agostino, Caponie's, etc.

You could route yourself to drive by Hagen's Fish Market on Montrose to check out some of their deep fried treets.

Just west of the Brickyard on Diversey there's the most unappealing looking place. It's called Mr. D's Shish-Kabob. It's not really a shish-kabob place, but they do serve something that resembles a kabob. It's basically meat and onions on a roll. But the meat is excellent and the fries are the best in the city. They also serve burgers and hot-dogs and a decent steak sandwich.

Trust me, you won't find any tourists in there

The Salvadorean place that I have posted about a few times is right there at Grand and Naraghansatt--6345 W. Grand

The area right around Brickyard is otherwise pretty crappy with fastfood/Appleby kinda places.

Down Grand towards Harlem is a new Middle-Eastern place called Sahara. We went once and it was not bad at all. There is also a Middle-Eastern place on Naraghansatt near Addison.

I am very partial to Operetta, the Czech place. It's on Fullerton just east of Austin.

There's a Mexican place on Fullerton at Austin, I've posted on it, but I cannot remember the name. It's not bad.
