Jay's is bankrupt and will be shut down. Our beloved Jay's chips will be no more if a buyer is not found. Wouldn't it be neat if a bunch of people could get together and buy it????

Another "Chicago brand" down the drain with a bunch of jobs too.........

and no more Jay's chips, my favorite.

I'll make a special point of soliciting Dan Quayle on that one. There's a man with both the extra money and vowels to make this happen.

My crystal ball is broken ... but I would like to make one prediction.

Jay's Snack Foods will probably be purchased by Birds Eye Foods which has been quietly purchasing up a number of local brands - Husman, Snider's of Berlin, Tims Cascade Snacks, etc. Either way, the future of the Chicago facility is toast.

Strictly a guess. I am unaffiliated with any food processor.

The Trib indicates that Jays is going to be purchased by a Pennsylvannia company: it wants Jays' Midwest distribution.

Manufacturing will likely move to the facility that the current owners purchased in southern Indiana. Product will be made there and shipped into the Chicago area.

Unfortunately, the Chicago facility will be shuttered and Jays will no longer be a Chicago company. But, you'll still be able to buy Jays product.

Jay's potato chips are back after an absence of seemingly a few months. I now see them in all the stores. I bought a bag of their kettle chips and did not like them. I am not sure what makes the flavor different in the kettle chips but its not the same as the regular Jay's chip. Like the crunch, just not the flavor.

So just saying that "Jays is back".

:( Sorry about that. I'm still trying to learn how to use all the machines in this place. The previous owners didn't leave any of the manuals. (By the way, I thought the rest of you guys were going to chip in some cash???)

Say, how do I get BBQ flavor? Do I need an "aquarium smoker"?
