Hi there. Does anybody know of a place that has a bacon drink? Shake, booze, whatever; the bacon can be pureed in it, decorating it, or used to infuse it. Chicagoland only please. I've seen so many things done with bacon, but never beverages. Can anybody guess what my favorite food is?

Look for "Rauchbiers" (smoked beers), from Bamberg Germany. Some of them taste just like bacon.

I had a bacon martini at Moto. It was really good. Great smoky flavour with a hint of apple.

    Great thought.

It's too bad Schwa has closed, but perhaps someone has reverse-engineered their prosciutto consomme, which is as close to liquid bacon as I believe I've had.

I second this recommendation. It is not uncommon for the Map Room to have them on tap. Also, West Lakeview Liquors (as well as other liquor stores with good beer selections) always have a couple varieties in stock. Schlenkerla is the premier brewer of rauchbiers.

I went there yesterday to try this very thing, and it was the most vile thing I'd ever placed in my mouth. It tasted just like cold bacon grease with vodka in it. Thanks for the tip, though, I also tried their Fonduta: spinach and pecorino melted together and served with buttery, crisp-on-the-outside-soft-on-the-inside crostini. Worth the trip. Besides, the prices at this place are pretty affordable, so I'll be back. But I'll try a different drink.

I just checked the Maproom website, and they have a rauchbier on tap. Note their description:

Schlenkerla Rauchbier Märzen 5.1% abv, 30 IBU
Rauchbier is a style made famous by a town called Bamberg in Germany. Their beers have an intense smokiness both in aroma and taste. Bacon beer anyone??? It is quite delicious.

Piece carries bottles of Schlenkerla (I think they have the Marzen), and I've gotten them at Sam's as well.

For the record, it goes very well with a white pizza w/spinach and mushrooms. :)

Sepia has a bacon bloody mary, made with bacon-infused vodka, and rimmed with a combo of maple sugar and seasoned salt, garnished with a bacon-wrapped cherry tomato. Go there for brunch, and get that with one of their Benedict dishes...

Homer: Are you saying you're never going to eat any animal again? What about bacon? Ham? Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad, those all come from the same animal.
Homer: Heh heh heh. Ooh, yeah, right, Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.

Fig Molly and I stopped to have a drink at the new Uncommon Ground on Devon. They offer a pretty twisted bacon drink. It is only on the brunch menu, but it sounded yummy.
