    So what we have determined is that the glass does make a difference.

    I'm not surprised the oversized glass didn't work for the merlot, bster. Was it that balloon style? I'd think anything except something amazingly huge would get lost in one of those :) Riedel (I just looked) ;) shows Merlot in what I'd call a generic wine glass sort of style.

    We drink most of our reds out of a glass that we got (in theory) to drink whites out of. It was part of a wine and food thing in one of the gallery areas, you wander around and see art and get tastes of different things. And it was sponsored by a group of wines from Italy they were calling "Super Whites." So it is that glass. And people were leaving theirs behind when it was over, so we snagged 2 more!

    Exactly. Long, thin stem with huge balloon bulb-like glass. Probably too big for Merlot. I though as well. May try experiment again with a huge Cab or blend I've been saving soon. Will report back.
