Every other month I get together with a group from my church for brunch. The names of different restaurants are thrown into the voting pool and we dine at the winning establishment. Well yesterday we dined at a place not to familiar to most of us even though we drive by this location at least twice a week. Leon's Tre is modest yet efficiently run restaurant. Its located at 1528 E. 63rd St. It originally started out as a place for BBQ but has branched out quite considerably after its recent renovation. We had the option of a reasonably priced buffet or ordering ala carte. Grits, fish, eggs, chicken, hashbrowns, etc.... Tre's is kind of like Stanley's but only on the south side with a bigger variety of food.

It used to be Tre's Pancake House but was closed for quite a while (I posted a picture of TPH, sort of, here). Do you know more about its days as a barbecue?

I think I understand now. The official name is Leon's on Six Tre'. It's the newest addition to the mini-empire of Leon's, once a great name in Chicago barbecue. There are two parts to the new Leon's: a take out side serving the usual Leon's barbecue menu and a sit down restaurant with a longer menu (including plenty of pancakes, like the old Tre's Pancake House). On weekends the restaurant offers a buffet. I haven't tried it yet but one day I will. Thanks for mentioning this place.

It's interesting that a newly printed advertising card doesn't list the Leon's on S Archer or the one on N Ashland.
