I wish I could attend. I love Sun Wah as is, but last week's Tony Bourdain in Hong Kong really had me jonsing for this kinda food. So, I went for lunch today. And I wanna warn you about the octopus whiskers.

I know at least a few of you tonight will be like me; needing to order the wall special of pan fried baby octopus whiskers just to find out what the hell they are. And...and, they're the little tentacles below the mouth. I'm not sure on baby octo's if there even are other tentacles of course. Nobu, he made them into "pasta". Sun Wah, they pan fry them as whiskers. Overall, the presentation was a bit greasy and rubbery--I thought.

Absolutely loved it, but I think I need to eat a lot of vegetables tomorrow.

As I said to Ronnie, I think I might break the fast here next year.

What a terrific evening, 19 LTHers, including a few young LTHers, guest appearance by Jeff B, his son Constantin plus a quick drop-in by JBW.

I delighted in the Octopus Whiskers, lightly fried, moderately crisp, gentle Salt and Pepper treatment, a new Sun Wah must-have.

Speaking of Salt and Pepper treatment, Sun Wah's S & P shrimp were dead on that evening, really a treat.

Two tables groaned under enough BBQ to satisfy even an LTHForum group, I'm a fan of the BBQ chicken thighs, squid in addition to the BBQ pork, duck and soy sauce chicken.

We had a few wall specials, tender Lamb Stew with fermented tofu sauce and Pork With Taro. Pork with Taro is starchy/heavy in a fashion that does not universally appeal, I like it, but may be the only one. :)

In addition to shrimp wonton soup, we had Octarine favorite Hot and Sour soup plus two noodle dishes, beef and Lucantonio's quite tasty pick, Pork w/bean sprout and pan fried noodle.

I was also much enamored with Jeff B's snack of choice, fried chicken skin. That guy knows how to eat. ;)

My bride and I had a very enjoyable evening, good food, conversation and LTHForum conviviality.
