In September, I spent an afternoon at the (Loaf N' Jug Presents) Chile & Frijole Festival, in downtown Pueblo, Colorado. They really love their chilies down here;
here's a description of what's basically going on in a lot of these pics. Anyway, it was an altogether pleasant afternoon:
Check out the chile mask... the air was so thick with roasted chili particulate that, in a few places, you kind of felt like someone had been pepper-sprayed nearby. It was not 100% pleasant.
Also check out the heat rising from the chile-roasting drum, distorting the light....
