Cointreau on sale at Jewel. A good deal?

I've never bought Cointreau at a store before, so I'm not sure how much it usually costs. But I'd like to mix some margaritas at home over the holidays, and I notice that Jewel advertises a 375 ml bottle on sale for $19.99. Is this a fairly good deal?

Same price as at Binny's and Sam's. So, if you were going to buy it just because it's on sale, don't bother. But if you were already in the market, go for it.

Have to say it is the best in Margaritas. I use that , Sauza Hornitos, lime aid, Heineken light Beer.

Makes a great Margarita.

Dave, have you tried making a more classic version using just fresh lime juice, cointreau, and tequila?

I have done the classic. It is a lot of work to squeeze all those limes. So I cut the corners and use lime aid. I also love the addition of beer as it makes it a bit more frothy and smooth. Especially Heine light

As an inexpensive substitute, I would suggest Controy. I think it can be found at Binnys and Sam's. It was $8 a bottle in Mexico. Used in a margarita you won't lose too much. I might call first to see if it is available.

I'll second the recommendation of Controy. We discovered it on a recent trip to Mexico. We wanted to buy ingredients to make Margaritas, but balked at buying a full bottle of Cointreau, which we wouldn't come close to finishing and seemed much more expensive there than here.

The guy in the liquor store recommended Controy as a cheap substitute. It performed admirably, especially given the very low price.

Although the Baileys is a good deal at Jewel this week. $14.97, that is about a $5 savings.

It's 14.99 regularly I think at binny's with a binny's card.

I was just wondering how this thread morphed from Cointreau to Bailey's. I actually know what Bailey's is. I just try to keep it out of my margaritas.

I wasn't sure where you were going with that I think it morphed because it is also on "special" at Jewel
