The Bride and I shall go to Vie to dine and present their GNR next Tuesday, October 23. Our preference is to go at 630p, but we would be happy to adjust the time to accommodate any fellow LTH'ers who wish to join us.

If we get a big group, I will discuss with Vie having some sort of group dinner, but generally just ordering off the menu works very well. Probably need to get a count in the next couple of days to be assured of space.

I've been meaning to try it so when better than this? Probably plus 1. Getting there from downtown may be a bit of a hassle @ that time though.

Damn, I'll be in Austin. Any way to postpone?

First of all, I'm a big Vie fan and am well pleased with this designation. Second, I'm really dying to try the leg of goat now on the menu and this would be a nice excuse!

The train is really a wonderful option. The Metra BN Western Spring stop is literally 100 feet from the door of the restaurant. I recommend it.

Not really - we go away for two weeks on Thursday and when I get back things will be crazed for a while, so if I postpone it all slips a month or more, so we are pretty stuck on the 23rd.

jps - sorry to hear that. Would enjoy meeting you one of these days and talking wine.

Had it last Saturday and it was tremendous. I'll update the thread shortly with a recap of our meal.

I'll always take an excuse to go here. Count me in for 1. I don't think the DH will attend; he has class on Tuesdays. Thanks for arranging this.

As it happens, I have not yet made a reservation, but I plan to shortly. 630 good for everyone?

    My count is:

    dickson + 1
    jazzfood + 1
    jean blanchard + 1
    jygach
    GAF
    greenfish

Or a total of 9. I will make a reservation or 10, in case someone else chimes in. Feel free to add or drop out, though, Tuesday nights are usually not that tough to get in. Should I try to arrange a special dinner?

The reservation has been made for 630 and they would be open to a special menu if people are interested, but I did not order anything. There are pros and cons - on the one hand, we might get something special, on the other hand given the seasonal and ever-changing aspect of the menu, it is special in its own right.

So I can go either way.

As it turns out, I am now visiting friends in Door County and won't be home until Monday. I think I'd better drop out at this point. If I think I can make it, I'll check back here on Tuesday to see if that's possible.

No problem, Jean. I will leave the reservation at 10 for now, so if no one else wants to join there is room for you. But I will leave them a VM around noon on Tuesday with an actual count.

Look's like I reluctantly will have to pass. An important business meeting was just rescheduled for Tues pm. I was set on taking the metro. Sorry if it causes any problems.

I, unfortunately, have a case of the flu. I may be just fine by Tuesday, in which case I would definitely like to join you. However, I don't want to mess up your reservations so let me know if a Tuesday morning decision is too late.

    Thanks.

Sorry about the folks who cannot make it. I will cut down the group size accordingly. By my count, we are now at:

    dickson+1
    GAF
    Greenfish

With Jean B & husband as maybes, but I am not counting on them. I will cut back the reservation accordingly. If we need to go back to 6 from 4 I doubt that will be a problem. It was the bigger group that I was worried about.

I was at Vie last night and chef said he'd taken Tuesday night off. I am also curious how this went. I hope there was someone there to accept the award.

Yes, Paul was off as was his father-in-law who manages the place, so we just skipped the presentation.

It has now been rescheduled for November 23, 715pm. Not sure if, and how many people we can add, but if some of you are interested in joining us, I will try to add a few people First come, first serve. The maximum for me is 10, and we have four already, but I will call and see about increasing the number in the next day or so if some people sign up.

    David,

You might make sure that Paul will be cooking the night after Thanksgiving, and while you are at it you might make sure that they will receive deliveries on Friday. I have family in for TG, so if it is the 23rd, I won't be there, but I'm glad I got there last time.

To add two to the reservation, I will need to switch the time to either 6 or 8pm. Do those times work for you? I am also checking with the other folks who are coming. My preference is 6pm.
