Bbop: Chow down and chill out, Korean style

I had a chance to try this new Korean joint that promises healthy food in a relaxed environment and I was pleased. Located on Sheridan a few doors down from the red line entrance, this new Korean cafe offers all the popular dish's from this particular cuisine including Bi-Bim-Bop, bulgogi and kalbi. I tried the Bbop Mix (Bi-Bim-Bop) with beef, everything pan fried and it was very tasty and basically two meals in one and came served with complimentary Kimchee. I have had tastier beef in my bop but I have to say the rice (white and brown offered) was some of the best I have had and that basically evened out the beef not being great but it wasnt bad either. I will be back for sure, as it is a great lunch option at a good price. They offer free WiFi and it is BYOB and they deliver after 4pm, there is a menu available on menupages for pick up orders.

Thanks for the heads up. I passed by on my way to what turned out to be a somewhat disappointing dinner at TAC on Friday night (which was surprisingly empty at 7:30 pm).

It was hard to identify it as Korean from the street. Intriguing and worthy of a try in the near future

I've been there several times - it's in my neighborhood and it's handy for a quick Korean fix. The owner, Okcha, is very friendly and remembers her customers. The space is small, and doesn't really have much of a kitchen - she has a couple of large rice cookers and cooks on a couple hot plates. Especially for what she has to work with, the food is good and plentiful. I'm very happy that she opened up so close to me.

She mentioned that her sister and brother-in-law have just opened their own Korean restaurant (Red Top) in the old Heat space at North & Sedgwick. She says that the food is wonderful. They opened up just a couple of weeks ago. It sounds like a more upscale place, not a Korean fast-food place like Bbop.
