I remember seeing Bourdain back in May of 2003. He came to town and did a signing at Borders in Oak Brook. I think about 8 of us fans showed up.
4 1/2 years later, Bourdain is clearly the rock star of all chefs. This most recent appearance at Borders on Michigan Avenue actually spurred the implementation of a 'wristband system,' although it wasn't strictly enforced. Still, hundreds and hundreds of adoring fans showed up . . .
The room was packed, from the windows that overlook Michigan Avenue, all the way back to the escalator that leads to the 3rd floor of the store.
Fans waited patiently, taking pics while standing in the line, which moved pretty quickly.
Bourdain signs for a couple of loyal fans.

After Tony signed for every single fan in attendance (regardless of wristband status), he signed a few dozen extras for inventory.
After it was all over, Bourdain and his bodyguards posed for a pic
