    Hello,

I'm looking for recommendations for Asian restaurants around the city. I've read several reviews in the forum, which were very helpful, and I would greatly appreciate any more advice/ opinions.

Recommendations for upscale restaurants are fine but what I would really like to know about are the smaller, perhaps not as well known establishments. And it would be very useful if you could recommend a specific dish or two at those places that I should definitely try when I go.

p.s. When I say 'Asian,' I'm primarily focusing on Japnaese, Chinese, Korean and Thai cuisine but if there are any other restaurants/ dishes that are absolutely 'to die for,' please don't hold back.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to LTH, gyuniku!

Really, search is your friend. There are hundreds of threads here that address exactly what you're looking for. If you need help searching, check out this thread. Or do a Google search for "<keyword> site:lthforum.com".

Also, a good place to start would be the Great Neighborhood Restaurants, representing many of the board's collective favorites. You'll find those here.

If you're still not finding what you're looking for, you might want to try being more specific. Asking a question like this is like walking into a library and asking the librarian if he has any good books. And remember that unlike a library, LTH is very much a two-way street. Folks put a lot of time and energy into posting here, and they appreciate and are more likely to respond to those who take the time to do some of their own legwork and meet them halfway.

Hope this helps, and enjoy the forum!

If you've found specific reviews helpful, I'd suggest replying to those reviews in the threads where you found them. Perhaps tell us about what you had when you tried the place mentioned, and what you liked or didn't like. Being specific will likely motivate people to respond in kind: "If you think XYZ's lemon gizzards are good, wait til you try them at ABC"

I really like Joy Yees in Chinatown. Especially in the summer. They have lines around the corner for their smoothys. However, I love their soups and have not had a dish yet i did not like

I can't help but think about this post by G Wiv.

Seriously, though, I sure do want to try Tank Noodle sometime soon. I can't seem to find the time lately. For that matter, I'd love if another Argyle-at-thon were organized. But that's a different topic entirely.
Did you know there is an LTHforum Flickr group? I just found it...

thanks for the responses. sorry about my broad questions- I'm a bit new to all of this. I'll definitely dig around more and be more interactive with the other posts.

ChgoMike- When you mention Tank Noodle, I'm assuming you like the pho there. I, personally, am a much bigger fan of Pho 777. I feel like the broth has less oil, less msg, and more flavor. If you can handle pigs foot, try the 'bun bo hue.' It's really good there. And after you're done, pick up some vietnamese sandwiches at Ba Le. You can't go wrong with those.
