Can anyone recommend a good beer of the month club?

How about visiting Sam's once a month?

Does the recently-passed Illinois law clamping down on interstate wine sales also affect beer? It might be a better bet just to visit Sam's/Binny's once a month, as already suggested.

Both are wonderful places to go exploring. I was actually looking for a beer club membership as a gift for someone else, who doesn't have access to Sam's and Binny's or any shops like that.

Here's one, but I can't really recommend it. Like most Beer-of-the-month Clubs, they're overpriced, and as others have said, you'd be much better off going to Sam's, or Binny's and shipping it yourself. But if you insist on trying one of these, this one doesn't sound horrible.

I'm not sure if this one is still in effect after the passing of Michael Jackson, but the website doesn't suggest the program has ended. There are several different pricing options, all of which are fairly pricey. But I would say this is definitely unique and the recipient will get things he/she certainly would not get in a typical beer-of-the-month club and will probably get some things pretty much impossible to find anywhere else.

My brother did the Michael Jackson beer club for a few months. HE got some good beers. That being said, looking at the beers over the past year, you can get most of them by visiting West Lakeview Liquors with ease, for much, much less. I bought that same brother a 2004 Cantillon Gueze there today. You are not going to get something like that in a beer club. I think the beer clubs work best for folks that live in locales where the beer options are very limited. That being said, there is nothing wrong with a beer surprise waiting at your doorstep every month.
