CHI/Indy/L-ville/E.Tenn/N. Ga - Good Eats for the trip?

Heading to NE Georgia in a couple weeks. I am planning on heading through Indy, Louisville, Lexington, Knoxville and was looking for some good roadside diners/cafes with a little local flavor that may be unknown to the common interstate driver. I am willing to go a good thirty min. from the main drag to find some unique dining. Any recommendations? Thanks.[/b]

I would recommend the Boone Tavern Inn of Berea College. Berea College is one of those colleges that do not charge students tuition. Rather, students all have positions working at the inn, the tavern, or elsewhere at the college.

I have to confess that I have yet to make it to the restaurant. I have been there three times and have managed to always hit graduation weekend or alumni homecoming. However, I have had the opportunity to meet a small number of the students and for what they may lack in polish, they make up for in enthusiasm.
