My in-laws are getting together in Florida for the Christmas holidays and we won't be able to join them. It just dawned on me that it might be nice to ship them a cake or some pastries to eat on Christmas Eve. Off the top of my head, though, I can't think of a good bakery that would ship to them. I checked Costco's website and they have some cakes, but I'm thinking more in the vein of a place that specializes in baked goods. Any ideas?

Dinkel's Bakery has an online mail order catalog. I have never had things shipped from them, but they could be one source.

Eli's Cheesecake ships, if cheesecake counts (and, of course, you like Eli's).

Personally, I sent a fruitcake from the Holy Cross Abbey in Berryville, VA.
    1st class product.

I will say that you are pretty late and had better order something no later than the weekend as many of the better places with limited production are sold out.

I've had a package of cookies and such sent from Swedish Bakery on several occasions, successfully and happily. You can order online:

Also from the Swedish Bakery, I once sent a whole Princess Cake (marzipan covered, custard and cream-filled genoise) to my daughter, who was away at school for her birthday. It arrived undamaged; n spite of its delicate taste, it was surprisingly durable.

If you're talking cheesecake, JR's dessert bakerycan't be beat - I sent the select assortment to the 'spouse one year when he was doing summer stock during for his birthday, and he (and everyone else) really appreciated it. Here's their order form; they do also offer several other kinds of excellent pastries and cakes.

I absolutely love these. Whenever I go to the Caribbean, I bring some of these back for friends . . . and for me.

My favorite holiday goody is a Danish Kringle from Racine. A business associate sends me one every year, and I always look forward to receiving it. Some of the bakeries are no longer taking orders for December, but I think you can still order one from O & H. I like the traditional almond flavor.

They also have a Kringle of the month club.
