Went back yesterday for my company's xmas party. I was less impressed.
Last time I had the burger, and while overcooked, it was tasty. This time I ordered a side caesar, the skirt steak, and a side of the truffled fries.
The caesar was really good. It as huge and large enough to split 3 ways. It contained large full stalks of lettuce covered with a garlicky caesar dressing and topped with croutons and fried capers. It was served with a steak knife. I was really tasty and reminded me of the caesar at the brown derby (well, not the original brown derby, but the one at mgm studios

)
The skirt steak was tiny and smelled foul. They took the steak and cut it into 4 small pieces and poured some sort of cream based sauce over it. It was served with peppers and onions, onion straws, and a tomato chutney on the side. The steak was tasteless. The chutney was nice, but didn't really go with anything else on the plate. It turned out the vegetables were the foul smelling culprit. The smelled heavily of vinegar.
The truffled fries were absolutely vile tasting. By truffled I guess they meant covered in parmesan cheese. There was nary a hint of truffle to be found. The side was $6.95.
Others at the table got different dishes. The signature dish of crab cakes and fillet was tiny. There were two half-dollar sized crab cakes sitting on similarly sized pieces of fillet. It looked like an appetizer portion that would be passed around on a silver tray at a wedding's cocktail hour. It was $23.
Several people ordered the shrimp dishes, the shrimp scampi and the firecracker shrimp. They both contained 4 medium sized shrimp. The scampi was served over a small pile of risotto while the firecracker shrimp were served with nothing. Both were served on a plate that was smaller than the bread plates. They were embarrassingly small portions, and the rest of us kept passing parts of out plates over to them so that they would be able to actually fill up. each dish was around $16. Both enjoyed their dishes but were dismayed by the portions.
Someone else ordered the fillet sandwich. When it came others made fun because it looked like two white castle burgers on his plate. It was actually the filet sandwich cut in half. He claimed it was tasty, but also complained of its size. It was $14.
Lastly, one of my co-workers ordered the salmon. It looked to be poached and was served on a huge plate with a ton of vegetables that were artfully presented in a pie shape enclosed by shaved zucchini. The portion of salmon was quite small, but with the vegetables seemed to justify its price of around $16.
If I went back I would stick to the bar tables with their cheap appetizers and tasty burgers.
