My good man, it can only be that without, the vending of comestibles should proceed solely on the basis of a common streetmarket haggle, with nary a margin thereto enrich the retailer! Guffaw!

We're going to bring an additional friend, actually, so we will be 3.5 now (3 adults, 1 1-year-old - note this is an adjustment to my earlier posting, just so we aren't counted twice).

    Can't wait!

While I appreciate a good joke as much as the next guy, I'm actually trying to get some business done in this thread, and the number of joke posts is starting to eclipse the number of RSVPs, questions, etc. I just had to sift through six posts to find the one new RSVP.

Starting a new thread is free, so, hint-hint....

The reservation is set for 6pm on the 24th.

We'll be on the 2nd floor so there's no need to go in the main door of the restaurant. Just proceed up the stairs outside the restaurant to the 2nd floor room. I'll get there a little early.

    Reminder: LSC is not BYO-friendly.

    Looking forward to seeing everyone.

For us first-timers, can you please provide an idea of how much $$$ to bring (based on past experience)? I'm assuming cash is preferred--or maybe even required?

I just took a look at their menu, and I'm so excited by the amazing variety of choices--plus the prospect of spending C. Eve with LTHers! Thanks for setting this up!

I would say that you can expect somewhere in the $25-$30 range, but don't hold me to that. Each table orders on their own and divides their own table's bill.

And yes, cash is always strongly preferred at group dinners such as this--for obvious reasons.

Lao Sze Chuan serves beer and wine and has for a long time except for a short period of time when their license was suspended.

I'll call and see how many more people they can add for us. I've received a bunch of emails in the past day asking to be squeezed in.

It's a little tricky doing it over the phone with them because depending on the person who answers, there's a slight language barrier, so I may need to wait or call back to talk to a specific person.

Yeah, I noticed them serving a table beer. But, I figured they sold it to them under the table. Well, that is good to know. I guess we lucked out and they didn't say anything to us.

I would come if I could make it. But, maybe next year. Please take lots of pictures and load them on this thread.

    Happy Holidays!

OK. The reservation has been expanded to include the entire wait-list (we're up to 40 people + 1 baby, a new record for this event).

I made the reservation for 42 to accommodate one or two more people. Please let me know if anyone can't make it or if anyone is suddenly free tomorrow night and wants to join us.

See everyone at 6pm on the 2nd floor of Lao Sze Chuan (which is at the southwest corner of the Chinatown mall.

For those of you who are new to this event: We break up into ad-hoc tables and there is no set menu. Each table works out their own ordering and divvies and pays their own bill. Please bring cash.

Looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

    Best,
    Michael
