I agree. The local TV station had a story on this a few minutes ago. I sure don't feel like rushing out and buying one. The idea of smoked salmon drink puzzles me.

Well, at least salmon-flavored is better than last year's holiday pack which included the following:
    Turkey & Gravy Soda
    Cranberry Soda
    Mashed Potato & Butter
    Green Bean Casserole
    Fruitcake Soda
My cousin bought a bunch of it and it apparently tasted even worse than it sounds.

I had those last year, just to sate my curiosity. The cranberry soda wasn't too bad, actually, and even the fruitcake was passable. Of the rest, mashed potato & butter was the least repulsive, with turkey & green bean absolutely vomit-inducing.

This year, the holiday pack is a little different. Instead of green bean casserole, they have brussel sprouts & prosciutto. Apparently, this is the worst of the bunch. Also, instead of fruitcake, there's pumpkin spice, and instead of mashed potato & butter, it's wild herb stuffing.

Not the vilest stuff I've ever tasted (that would go to surstromming), but pretty nasty.

Has anyone seen the 2007 Jones Holiday packs for sale in Chicago? Apparently via mail order, shipping costs more than the products themselves. In past years, I've noticed them crop up at Target for a discount after New Years, and could probably wait, if I were to try them at all... but I just thought I'd see if anyone has seen them in stores.

The Onion AV Club's new "Taste Test" series offered their experiences here:

They are harder to find this year. Ive already gone to two different targets and they didnt have them.

Heck, I would like to find a store that sells Jones sodas that are different then the typical root beer/cream soda/green apple/strawberry lime that I find around here. I want to try their cherry soda.

I got some of these at Cost Plus World Market in Evanston two years ago. You might give them a call, as they tend to stock a lot of novelty/gift items.

    Hi,

Last year I bought those holiday packs deeply discounted after Christmas at Target. I didn't see them this year, but I wasn't looking either.

The Target in the South Loop has a "dessert" pack which includes various pie-flavored sodas -- I believe they were apple, cherry, lemon meringue, and blueberry pie. Not as exciting as Christmas ham and the like.

Im my final attempt to try and find the jones soda holiday pack in the northwest burbs, I travel all the way to the super target in streamwood to see if they had any.

    They had none.

...but they did have Jones soda Christmas Cocoa soda. I bought the remaining two 4 packs and have them chilling in the frig. If I like them, Im going to drink them, if not...well there is always Ebay. Will give a report when I take the first sip.

Added note...I found out from the Jones site that besides the holiday pack, they are also producing this year, besides the cocoa, a gingerbread man soda and a candy cane soda for a limited time.

I finally tried the Christmas Cocoa soda and I have to admit that its not bad at all.

Nice rich cocoa flavor with a mint after taste.

Now if I can find the Jones Cherry flavor here in the northwestern burbs....
