    Remember them? They were grilled, I think....I'd like to recreate that bun. Any suggestions?
    I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

    Wow. I feel old :)

    Doesn't anyone remember them? I think they were cut from a whole loaf of white bread, they only had a crust on top & bottom, the sides were white bread grilled like a grilled cheese, I think.....

    They were really good.
    I can't believe I ate the whole thing!

    Reminds me of the buns at Howard Johnson's ... loved those.

    Sounds like a split top roll that I have enjoyed many a times filled with warm lobster and drizzled with butter. Do a search for Split top rolls. Somewhere on LTH there is a post about a special pan to make them.
