China Terrace on Summit Villa Pk

Has anyone eaten at this place? Its quite near Oakbrook. Please advise.

overpriced and food quality leaves something to be desired.Servicevery slow and standoffish.

Never been, but a particular husband/wife friends of my parents like it. That's usually not a good sign.

My secret. The best Mongolian beef and sizzling rice soup I've ever had. Mandarin chicken wings are also excellent, decor is old-fashioned Chinatown palace, staff is nice, desserts are throwbacky and include bananas flambe prepared tableside (at last visit, at least). They've been there for years and years.

China Terrace was quite weak the last time I ate there about a dozen years ago.

Okay good idea on the Tae Fu. Do you know of any Cantonese places in these environs?

Tae Fu is pretty much standard Cantonese menu (it says "Cantonese/Mandarin" on the sign), but done much more artfully than the status quo.

I also like Gong Ho in Downers Grove (http://gonghorestaurant.com/, ridiculous lunch specials for $3.95). There used to be a place called Golden Dragon Inn out by Argonne which made the best General Tso's I'd ever had, and even some Hong Kong friends from the lab liked a few of the dishes, but I think it's long gone.

Fabulous Noodles in Lisle is pretty much standard Cantonese (they hail from Hong Kong, I believe). Not sure if that qualifies as being in the environs for you. I have heard that Jockey Restaurant, north of 63rd on Cass in Westmont is pretty good, but have not gone. Many people like House of Emperor on 75th Street in Naperville, too. As I have commented before, it never has impressed me favorably, but I have come to accept that this is my issue, since everyone I know and respect as to taste in food does like it.

These places may or may not qualify as being in the environs of Villa Park for you, but they all are worth a little drive. Fabulous Noodles would be my first choices.
