I got American Masala by Suvir Saran. Made a new recipe from it last night - chicken thighs that are marinated and cooked in a sauce of lemon zest, balsamic, sugar, black peppercorns, butter, and salt. I have to say it was one of the most interesting and delicious chicken thigh recipes I have ever made, and we cook chicken a lot. I plan on sampling more recipes this week... I love getting a new cookbook!

Pitcher that I've been wanting for about 2 years

New ice cream maker (made 3 kinds of ice cream for Christmas Eve so I have great need for this)

Pastis glasses (so I can pretend I'm in Paris)

Stainless steel sugar and creamer on a tray that I admired in a restaurant (my husband remembers everything I admire even though I forget)

    SO EXCITED!!

Just got a shit ton of cast iron cookware. That is all.

All i need to get is a dutch oven and i seriously think i've converted everything over to cast iron. I felt bad demoting my other pans to the kitchen storage while the new cast iron stuff hung from the pot hanger, but sometimes to you have to better yourself. I've gone through so much with that crap Target pots and pans set though

    upwards and onwards!

Sorry, Santa diverted your dutch oven to me - the 'spouse picked me out a really gorgeous Chantal Talavera enamel cast iron one, which I promptly put to use making beef stock from the Christmas dinner bones.

I also got a 3-pc set of Berndes Tricion (Aluminum core stainless) saucepans, and promptly put my old, stained, crappy ones in the recycling.

Our dearest pals in Chicago sent us a lovely tin of homemade chocolate truffles. Unfortunately, the poor things encountered some heat along the way, combined with the adverse effects of gravity and rough handling, and by the time they reached us it was difficult to tell just what they'd started out their lives as. The note I sent to my friends said, "Thanks for the unique Christmas gift. Of all the cowpies we received this year, yours came in the prettiest can!"

I too received a GPS system. What a great idea to program in all the GNRs. Now, I have a project for this evening.

After seeing these drool worthy pictures on the Cream Puffs in Venice blog, I added Carole Walter’s Great Coffee Cakes, Sticky Buns, Muffins & More to my wishlist. My parents gave this to me for Christmas, and I am looking forward to the challenge of making these gorgeous baked goods since I have rarely worked with yeast.

I also received a Barefoot Contessa kit consisting of chocolate cake mix with raspberry sauce and a spatula.

A Forschner Fibrox cleaver and bread knife (I already have the paring and chef's knife); a spice carousel, a Lettuce Entertain You gift card and the Greektown Chicago cookbook.

I assume the spices that come included with the spice racks aren't very good, right? I thought the one I requested didn't come with spices, but it did. I don't want to waste them, but I don't want super-crappy spices, either.

I'll have Christmas 2.0 with extended family when I get back from K.C., so maybe I'll have more to report then. :)

I also received a Lettuce Entertain You gift card as well. In addition to the Jane's Mixed Up Pepper in my stocking, I received a Berghoff cookbook. I actually got TWO Berghoff cookbooks, one from my husband and one from my best friend. I think they figured that since I attempted my first sauerbraten earlier in the fall, I needed a creamed spinach recipe for the next time?

The day after Christmas, I gifted myself with a 6 pack of the Brown Shugga beer I've been lusting over since reading about it here.
