Ate at Smoque last week. Enjoyed it very much.
What made is exceptional was BYOB. Great,
Looking for good restaurants that have the same policy.

Christmas Eve ate at Lovells in Lake Forest. Expensive wine, which was very good, food was terrible and very expensive. Very disappointing experience.

That's why BYOB from now on!!!!!!!!!

    Walter,

    Welcome to LTH Forum.

I love BYOB's also. I'd suggest you check out the existing threads on BYOB's, such as those below. Also, note that the best way to search past threads is to use google. Type: "site:lthforum.com byob" into google to search for past discussions of "byob".

There are may more, beyond these four:

This thread could also be moved to the "Eating Out in Chicagoland" board.

There are so many that there's a whole guidebook devoted to them:

Another easy way is to go to www.metromix.com and sort by BYOB in the neighborhood you're looking to dine. I had that BYOB book, but it always seemed to be out of date when I went to use it. Either the restaurant was closed, or the restaurant finally got a liquor license. I have found it always best to call ahead. My favorite at the moment is Bonsoiree.
