A coworker in my (north) loop office loves croissants. I'm partial to them as well. When she said she could not find a good one in these parts, and I was unable to think of a place in the loop area for her to get one, I took the task of finding a place as a challenge.

So, intrepid loop foodies, where can I find a good croissant in the lop area? FWIW, I read some past posts mentioning Fox & Obel, but that's too far.

    Hi,

My sense is you already researched the best answer. If you are north loop, then Illinois Avenue is not all that far away. Sometimes you do have to go to the source or maybe they deliver.

Have you tried the croissants at Argo Tea? There should be a couple locations around the loop.

Also, does Bombon offer croissants? Sorry for answering your question with more questions.. Just throwing out ideas.

I really love the croissants at Specialty's, especially their fruit & cream cheese or turkey & cheese croissants. They're heavenly but so sinful. They also have plain ones. Here's a link to their website.

If you're thinking of giving a gift of croissants, I've interacted with the client services coordinator at Fox & Obel, and she arranged for me a special delivery of cookies to a loop location. She was fantastic, and I bet she could make anything happen. (The delivery fee was also much less than I expected for a last minute phone request, maybe $20...can't remember now.) This was quite a few months ago, so I don't know if Vilma is still there. It's worth a try, again, if you want to give a gift and can't make it over to F&O.

Pucca -- i checked specialty's' website, and i see no signs of a croissant. am i missing something?

also, the gist of my OP was where can i find a good croissant in the loop should i want to get one (presumably) on a whim in the morning. that's why i nixed fox & obel as getting to/from there, at north pier, isn't really something a loop worker can easily do on a whim.

They are listed under the breakfast baked goodies. I work in the building and see them in the case everyday. However, once the morning baked goodies are sold out, they do not make more during the day. Sometimes, they are sold out by 9 or 10am.

Intelligentsia always has croissants, but I don't know who their baker is.
