a few of us are planning to dine and catch up over artful small plates at Macarena on Tuesday, January 22, at 7:30 PM. Chef John Borras studied with Adria, reflected in some moleculargastronomic whimsy in the context of a traditional tapas menu.

It is hoped this later time will snag us some city-dwellers by allaying the traffic snarl somewhat, but we can't do much later than that, since the kitchen closes at 9. The host with whom I just spoke said we can stay in the restaurant as long as we like after that. Sangria is $2 on Tuesdays! We'll find an after-event if anyone is still stir crazy.

Western Suburban LTHers are especially welcome - let's brainstorm the next 'thon out in our neck of the woods over some good food.

    618 S State Rte 59, Naperville
    (630-420-8995). Lunch (Mon–Sat), dinner.
    Average tapa: $7.*

Thanks for putting this together Matt. There will be two Dicksons gladly attending.

Wish I could attend, but I'll be appliance shopping or something of the sort in the great east of CT. Make sure someone brings a camera (I know Dickson won't).

Aw heck, I often bring a camera, Flip, I just am not so good at posting the pix. So I guess the effect is about the same as not having a camera.

I'm looking forward to a report on this event. Sorry I cannot join in tonight but I have to go to the hospital for a "sleep test". I am looking forward to trying to trying Macarena but it would probably be at lunchtime on a weekend.

Many thanks to the dicksonds, GreenFish, and Jean for a lovely meal and discussion. Aside from my head cold and complete inability to find the place (abetted by GoogleMaps, which shows the place right on 59 instead of set back in a north-facing facade of the mall), I had a great time, and will post some specific thoughts on the food later tonight. Flip, with apologies, we all left cameras gleefully in the car. While the plating was beautiful, it was a trifle dark and intimate (and staff-hovered) for a good photologue anyway. We'll try to do it justice with words!
