Does anyone have a source for medjool dates besides Stanley's or Costco? Hopefully, in near west sub area.
What if the Hokey Pokey really IS what it's all about?

Personally, I import my dates from Death Valley - the China Date Ranch in Tecopa Hot Springs, CA. We have had really good luck with them. They have a wide variety of dates that they grow in their orchard.

Well, a few weeks ago, I found them at Sunflower Market, but I wouldn't count on finding them anymore now they are closing.

However, just wanted to add my love of the "date banana" shake, introduced to me on a drive through the CA/AZ desert last summer. Stopped off at Hadley's Fruit Orchard on a recommendation, and just recently, created my own version with the dates from Sunflower.

    3 dates, pitted
    1 frozen banana
3/4 cup skim or soy milk

    Blend & enjoy!

In addition to get them at Trader Joe's, I have purchased them from Joe Caputo's as well.

I couldn't find any at Caputo's on Harlem. Which one is Joe's?

There are 3 locations: Palatine, Des Plaines, and Algonquin. Here is the link to their website. I don't know if the two different Caputo businesses are related.

    Hi,

I saw them at the Home Economist before Christmas, however they were much better priced at Costco.

I get them at the Whole Foods near me (north suburbs) in the bin section where you scoop it out into bags.

I bought them recently at Lincolnwood Produce for $5.29/lb. You don't have to buy a huge tub of them there as you do at Costco.

Which ones have you tried so far? They have varieties I have never tried that sound really great. I spoke to them and they sound like a top notch operation.

I don't eat dates. I do eat their baked products and I have always been very happy with them. Mrs. jlawrence received a 5# box of dates for her Christmas gift and she was VERY pleased and is about halfway through the order.

I have met the people who run the ranch on several occasions as it is a phenomenal sidetrip from Las Vegas. They have six hiking trails behind their ranch that they encourage people to use. We have done several of them.

The China Date Ranch is located immediately south of the southern entrance to Death Valley National Park and about 90 minutes outside of Las Vegas in Tecopa Hot Springs.

I just ran across a great deal on medjool dates at Caputo's on Harlem. They have 12 oz packages of them for $3.69, which is less than $5/LB. I had bought them from China Ranch the last couple of years, but their latest price increase was a bit much. Their dates are good, but $11/LB is too much, considering the ones I got at Caputo's for half that are very good also.
