Eva Solo

Am thinking of getting an Eva Solo CafeSolo - basically a glass carafe kitted out in neoprene, with a mesh filter.

I noticed that Coffee Studio in Andersonville uses them, but I've only had espresso drinks there. I'll try one soon, but until then, does anyone have any experience with them?

Haven't experienced one, but I had dinner with Corby Kummer in Boston the night he picked one up to review it. He's something of an expert on coffee, and the review he eventually wrote said its performance is not that impressive, at least compared to its price. You may want to check online for additional reviews before plunking down $85 for a little carafe in a wet suit.

Yeah -- that's pretty much it. Beans and water, stir, then pour through a filter. Probably makes okay coffee, but not better than a French Press, and at vastly greater cost. But you can have fun zipping and unzipping the little wet suit.

the profile produced by an eva solo is very similar to that of a french press.
if you like that big, bold profile then the eva solo can work great....
the grinder is very important - use a burr grinder if you can!

I bought an Aeropress instead, and it's fantastic. I have had some trouble keeping track of all the parts, however.

If anyone is interested in trying coffee made in an Eva Solo device, look no further than the Coffee Studio in Andersonville. I believe they sell a carafe for around $4.
