    I received notice of this in the Andersonville Monthly Update.


    "2/10, 12-2pm - Herring Breakfast with Entertainment by Musicians Fred Rundquist and Mike Alongi
    Join us at the Swedish American Museum for a traditional fried herring breakfast which includes meatballs, potato sausage, and much more. The breakfast is catered by Tre Kronor Restaurant. Cost: $15 members, $20 non-members. Reservations are required. www.samac.org"

    Hi,

    This is an interesting parallel to information learned at Paczki Blowout yesterday. Cookie Monster commented that pickled herring is eaten throughout the Lenten season. It would seem this Swedish herring breakfast may be a Lenten related event as well.

    My father reminded me the other day that most of Lent was meatless. His mother would purchase a 25-50# cask of pickled herring for lent.
