Does anyone know of a stopre with a good 1/2 bottle selection? Sam's and the Binny on Grand really didn't.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Much thanks.

I will say that I've been buying some at Larry's in palatine- he has splits of 99 ridge for like 60 bucks- a steal.

PS- I bought all his 99 ridge.

I know Wine Discount Center can get them and has some. If you're looking for a really awesome half bottle go for either the Patty Green stuff or the Altamura Sangiovesse that they can get. If you are ever interested in splitting a case of something I'm generally down for that- we love to keep those 375's around.

    You bought it all? SAVAGE!

The main reason I'm looking for 375's right now is in anticipation of my upcoming dinner at Schwa. Sure we could go with two full bottles but I;d rather not. I figure 3 1/2 bottles would work well through dinner, 2 whites and one red.

I'm think a sparkler, a white burgundy and a red burgundy. We'll see how lucky I can get. My hopes aren't high and I figure we'll end up with two full bttles, one white, one red.

Schramsberg makes the 04 blanc de blancs in a 375- I'd think Wine Discount Center might have that. For the price of red burgundy I'd honestly much rather drink domestic 05 Pinot Noir, especially if you're just drinking a half bottole. I know that WDC has the Patty Green 06 Pinot but I know it's going to be really young.

There's some other Ridge up at Wine Cellar, but I can't vouch for it.

Thanks for the input. The only thing most US pinots have against them is that they tend to be so fruit forward. I like a funkier, earthier pinot, particularly with food.

A reisling may be a good second wine after a sparkler too now that I think of it.

Half Wit Wines is a store in San Francisco that carries nothing but half bottles and they have a great selection. You can order their catalog or order online.
